Pooh Shiesty’s arrest last night in Texas in the alleged Gucci Mane kidnapping and robbery case has already triggered a wave of reactions online, with his mother, YSL Woody, Claressa Shields, and fans all weighing in as the story keeps unfolding.
One of the first responses came from Shiesty’s mother, Gladys Baines, who shared a series of cryptic posts on Facebook after news of the arrests broke. On Wednesday, she wrote, “It’s power in the name Jesus…” Then on Thursday, she followed that with, “my ears ringing #keeptalking #blessingsonblessings,” along with prayer hand emojis. In another post, she added, “I been blocked you hating mf’s … #Amen.” While she did not directly mention the case, the timing of the posts quickly got people talking.

YSL Woody took a much more direct approach. In a video posted to Instagram, he reacted to the news by questioning how Pooh Shiesty ended up back in custody after already serving federal time.
“Help me understand this, y’all — please help me. I need help. Pooh Shiesty did all that time in jail — in the feds. He around all them people that have unbelievable cases where it show how far the feds willing to go [but] Pooh Shiesty came home and made a ‘First Day Out’ and they sent him right back to jail,” Woody said.
He continued, “Pride and ego is our main enemy. That’s why I call myself Woody versus Woody. I got to fight myself every day. To not let these suckas trick me back into jail…”
Woody also said Pooh had come home to major success and still did not shift his mindset.
“He came home and did NBA YoungBoy numbers,” Woody said. “He had the whole lifestyle that he dreamed of having. But he didn’t change his mindset. Look what the boy did. The boy done went and did some stupid st, causing him to go back to jail… We our own enemy. This stops when we change our mindset.”
Claressa Shields later backed Woody’s take, writing on X, “Y’all be calling Woody stupid, he not stupid though. He’s real, Very calculated & and really be preaching.”
Rapper Waka Flocka Fame, who has had a long-standing history with Mane, also stated in a now-deleted tweet, “man y’all out yo f****ng mind if you think I’m a celebrate wop [Mane’s nickname] situation if tho we ain’t on onw accord.. none of my business carrying,”

Fans have been just as split. Some have rushed to defend Pooh, while others are criticizing him for being in trouble with the law again, pointing to his past interviews and post-prison moves as signs that nothing really changed. There are some criticizing Gucci Mane for binding Sheisty up in an unfair contract, but nobody knows the full story behind the alleged contract dispute and why things escalated the way prosecutors claim they did.

All of this is unfolding as the federal case itself gets more attention. Prosecutors allege Pooh Shiesty, his father and seven others took part in an armed studio robbery and kidnapping in Dallas after what was supposed to be a business meeting over contract issues with Gucci Mane. The complaint accuses the group of forcing Gucci to sign release paperwork at gunpoint and robbing multiple victims of jewelry, cash and luxury items.
For now, the reaction online has been loud, but we are yet to see how it shifts once the case moves further into court.
