Foogiano is reportedly back home after serving a five-year prison sentence — and his release is already stirring conversation beyond just his return.
News of Foogiano’s release began circulating Tuesday after producer Spiffomadeit posted an Instagram Story showing the rapper smiling, captioned “No more Free Foo.” Photographer Tony also appeared to confirm the moment, writing, “Stay free welcome home Foo.” The posts quickly spread, with fans reacting across social media.
Foogiano, born Kwame Khalil Brown, had been incarcerated since 2021 after removing his ankle monitor while out on a $50,000 bond in a firearm possession case. He went on the run for several months before being apprehended and sentenced to five years in prison.

But within hours of his reported release, attention shifted to his relationship with Gucci Mane. A series of alleged Instagram messages, shared by YouTube commentator Ceddy Nash, claimed that Foogiano is distancing himself from his longtime label boss.
“Foogiano will not be f*cking with Gucci Mane,” a source close to his team allegedly wrote, with the exchange suggesting ongoing tension behind the scenes. The same messages claimed Foogiano felt unsupported during his prison stint, alleging that Gucci Mane “didn’t send him not one dollar while he was in jail.”
The conversation also referenced broader friction within the 1017 camp, including comparisons to Pooh Shiesty and criticism of Gucci Mane’s recent track “Crash Dummy,” which the source claimed Foogiano did not approve of. These claims remain unverified, and neither Foogiano nor Gucci Mane has publicly addressed them.
Before his arrest, Foogiano had just signed to Gucci Mane’s New 1017 label and released his debut album Gutta Baby, quickly becoming one of the standout voices from the label’s revamped roster. Following major roster changes in 2024, he remained one of the last artists tied to that era.
