Dwight Howard and Amber Howard’s marriage drama is no longer staying behind closed doors. Newly released police body cam footage shows the two in a tense confrontation outside their Georgia mansion, with both sides making explosive claims in front of officers.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, was recorded on March 6 and opens with Amber standing outside the front gate, telling police Dwight had “locked her out” after getting upset. She claimed this was not a one-off situation either, telling officers this is something he does “frequently” and saying police had been called to the house four times in the past year.
The footage is connected to the 911 audio that surfaced last week, in which Amber reportedly told dispatchers Dwight had “kicked her out” of the home.

In the body cam video, she also claimed CPS had taken Dwight’s daughter from a previous relationship the night before, and said he was upset because she did not “defend him” in that situation. Dwight’s rep pushed back on that account, saying CPS “never took the child” and “didn’t even visit the home.”
Dwight later appears in the footage with his son and two men Amber claimed he had met just days earlier on a “celebrity numbers” app and hired on the spot to pressure-wash the property.
At one point, Dwight pulled an officer aside and had his son explain what had happened the night before. According to the son, he had been trying to avoid Amber because she was “yelling” at both him and Dwight.
The conversation then shifted to Dwight’s 15-year-old daughter, with the former NBA star alleging that the girl’s mother and Amber had “teamed up” because they were angry about money and “want to destroy my kids and my reputation.”

He also dropped another surprise in the middle of the exchange, telling officers he was “officially retiring from basketball” — a detail that appeared to catch his son off guard in real time. Dwight then claimed Amber had been trying to get under his skin ahead of a major ceremony and said that while people had encouraged him to stay married, she had recently gone “berserk.”
By the end of the encounter, Dwight made his position plain. “We are afraid,” he told officers. “I’m afraid for my son. He does not feel safe around her. Something has to be done.”
Three days later, on March 9, Dwight filed for divorce. Earlier this month, Amber uploaded a tearful video to her Instagram accusing the former Lakers player of cocaine use and trouble with Child Protective Services over his daughter.
