Desiigner is trending again — but this time, it’s not about music.
The Brooklyn rapper, best known for his 2016 breakout hit “Panda,” was arrested in South Carolina earlier this week on a third-degree domestic violence charge. According to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, he was taken into custody on Monday and released the following day. Details surrounding the alleged incident have not been made public, and the alleged victim has not been identified.
Shortly after news of the arrest broke, Desiigner’s booking photo began circulating online, with many fans reacting to his appearance, expressing shock and concern, with some pointing out how different he looked compared to his earlier years in the spotlight.
The reaction has added another layer to what has already been a difficult stretch for the rapper.
In 2023, Desiigner was arrested for indecent exposure after an incident on a flight to Japan, where he exposed himself mid-flight. He later addressed the situation in a statement, attributing his actions to struggles with mental health and substance use.
“For the past few months, I have not been ok, and I have been struggling to come to terms with what is going on,” he said at the time. “I am ashamed of my actions that happened on that plane.”
Desiigner ultimately pleaded guilty in that case and was sentenced to two years of probation. He was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, complete community service, undergo regular drug testing, and issue a public apology to airline staff. Early reports had suggested he would be required to register as a sex offender, though his attorney later clarified that this was not the case.
As of now, Desiigner has not publicly commented on his latest arrest or the viral reaction to his mugshot.
