A Washington mother and daughter were arrested after allegedly flaunting stolen Louis Vuitton handbags while participating in Yung Miami’s viral “Spend Dat” TikTok challenge.
Bellevue Police and King County prosecutors allege that Janeice Renee Downs and her mother, Janeice Wiley, appeared on social media with merchandise connected to a theft at the downtown Seattle Nordstrom store.
The pair were arrested on June 12 after investigators linked them to the alleged theft of more than $7,000 worth of Louis Vuitton handbags.
Louis Vuitton Bags Allegedly Stolen From Seattle Nordstrom
Prosecutors claim Downs and another unidentified suspect entered the Nordstrom store on June 6 and distracted a sales associate before taking two Louis Vuitton handbags.
Store surveillance footage allegedly captured the theft.
Investigators said Downs wore a full-face covering during the incident. Authorities believe the covering resembled disguises allegedly used in previous organized retail theft cases connected to her.
The investigation reportedly gained momentum after detectives discovered a TikTok video posted one day after the alleged theft.
Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” Challenge Allegedly Exposed Suspects
Court records allege Wiley appeared in the TikTok video dancing with handbags resembling the stolen Louis Vuitton merchandise.
Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” played in the background as Wiley participated in the viral social media challenge.
Detectives also found images of similar Louis Vuitton handbags on Downs’ Instagram account, according to prosecutors.

Investigators compared the social media posts with surveillance footage from Nordstrom. Authorities cited several matching details, including white-painted toenails, black sandals and the face covering allegedly worn during the theft.
A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation reportedly described the posts as a “classic case of self-snitching.”
The Yung Miami TikTok challenge video allegedly helped detectives identify the suspects and connect them to the Seattle Louis Vuitton theft.
Janeice Downs Faces Organized Retail Theft Charge
The case adds to Downs’ previous legal problems involving alleged organized retail theft.
Downs previously pleaded guilty in a separate investigation involving hundreds of thousands of dollars in allegedly stolen merchandise across Washington, Oregon and California.
Bellevue Police Capt. Landon Barnwell described Downs as “one of the region’s most prolific organized retail theft criminals.”
“They drive up prices for everyone and hurt local businesses,” Barnwell said.
Downs remains jailed on $215,000 bail and faces a new first-degree organized retail theft charge. Prosecutors are seeking to keep her in custody while the case moves forward.
Wiley was released after posting bond.
The allegations against both women have not been proven in court. Downs and Wiley are presumed innocent unless convicted.
