Uh oh! It appears Shaq is shutting this rumor mill down before it goes any further.
During a recent episode of The Big Podcast, Shaquille O'Neal addressed the viral rumor claiming he sent explicit DMs to pop star Sabrina Carpenter, making it clear he is not behind the messages making the rounds online. “First of all, ladies, the diesel got way more game than that,” he said while reading the alleged texts aloud, brushing them off as fake.
The screenshots, which started circulating earlier this month, included over-the-top and explicit lines supposedly sent from Shaq’s account. At one point, he even read one of the more absurd messages on air before immediately dismissing it as nonsense. According to him, the entire thing is fabricated, with a photoshopped image and what he suggested could be AI-generated text fueling the rumor.

Shaq also used the moment to call out how quickly misinformation spreads online. Joined by rapper Jim Jones on the episode, the conversation shifted to social media culture, with both pointing out how easily fake content can gain traction. Jones described the internet as a “dangerous place,” while Shaq added that he personally uses social platforms strictly for business, content, and promotion.
The rumor itself picked up steam largely because of the sheer absurd nature of some of the texts, which led many users to question whether they were real to begin with. The dms showed messages like “Damn baby, I will keep your farts in a cologne bottle and spray them on me everyday.” But there has been no credible evidence linking the messages to Shaq, and Carpenter has not publicly responded to the situation.
For Shaq, the message was simple: this is not his behavior, and it is not his account. And in typical Shaq fashion, he handled it with a mix of humor and dismissal rather than turning it into something bigger.
