Pete Davidson brought one of his most public feuds back into the conversation during The Roast of Kevin Hart.
The Netflix special aired live on May 10 as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest, with Kevin Hart taking the hot seat in front of a lineup that included Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Tony Hinchcliffe, Jeff Ross, Shane Gillis, Tom Brady and others.
During his set, Davidson aimed several jokes at Hinchcliffe before turning the punchline toward Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. “Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings,” Davidson said. “I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”
The line referenced Davidson’s long-running history with Ye, which began in 2022 when Davidson was dating Kim Kardashian after her split from the rapper. At the time, Ye repeatedly targeted Davidson online and referred to him as “Skete” in now-deleted posts.
@much Bruh keeps calling him #skete 🤣! #kanyewest had a few things to let out today. #petedavidson #kidcudi #kimkardashian #yewest
The feud also moved into Ye’s music. In the video for “Eazy,” Ye depicted a claymation version of Davidson being kidnapped and buried, which led to heavy criticism at the time.
Before Davidson’s latest joke, Ye had been trying to move forward with a new public chapter. In January, he published a full-page statement in The Wall Street Journal apologizing for past antisemitic remarks and linking some of his behavior to bipolar disorder. He wrote that his condition did not excuse his actions and said he was committed to treatment and accountability.
Ye has also been promoting his album Bully and returned to the stage with major shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. His comeback has still faced pushback. Wireless Festival in the U.K. was canceled after authorities barred Ye from entering the country over concerns tied to his antisemitic remarks and recent controversies.
Davidson did not spend the whole set on Ye, but the joke quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the roast. For now, Ye has not publicly responded to Davidson’s comments
