More than a month after finally taking home his first Academy Award, Michael B. Jordan still hasn’t figured out where the trophy belongs — so for now, it’s sitting in his closet.
Speaking on the red carpet at the April 26 premiere of his new Netflix animated film Swapped, the actor kept it surprisingly casual when asked about the Oscar. “Right now, it’s, uhh — right now it’s in my closet,” he said with a grin. “It’s one of them things that, I don’t know, you don’t really know where to put it… it’s kind of moved around to a bunch of different places.”
But if the placement sounds uncertain, his mindset doesn’t. Jordan made it clear the moment has already passed for him. “But it’s off,” he added, gesturing to the side. “I’m focused on the next thing right now.”
That “next thing” comes after a major career milestone. Jordan picked up Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars for his dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the hit vampire thriller Sinners, a film he made alongside longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler. The movie itself dominated awards season, walking away with four Academy Awards.
Now, he’s shifting gears. Jordan is lending his voice to Swapped, where he plays a woodland creature named Ollie who accidentally switches bodies with his natural enemy, a bird named Ivy, voiced by Juno Temple.
And the momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The actor is also set to direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, marking another major step in his evolution behind the camera after making his directorial debut with Creed III in 2023 — a film that went on to break records with the biggest domestic opening ever for a sports movie in North America.
For now, the Oscar might still be tucked away out of sight — but if anything, it’s a sign Jordan isn’t dwelling on the win. He’s already onto the next chapter.
