Lizzo just dropped a personal milestone that’s got everyone talking.
Appearing on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast this week, the singer opened up about her personal journey in a way fans didn’t see coming, revealing she didn’t lose her virginity until her 30s — and it was very much by design.
“I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time,” she admitted. “I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”
That moment came in 2020, when she swept three awards for Cuz I Love You and “Truth Hurts.” But according to Lizzo, the milestone didn’t happen the same night. When Lil Dicky joked that the Grammys must’ve been the “best night” of her life, she clarified it happened shortly after, not at the ceremony itself.

Lizzo described feeling like a “weight off my chest” after finally being honest about something she’d hidden for years. She even recalled dodging questions back in college at the University of Houston, admitting she would lie to fit in. “It was so embarrassing,” she said. “I said, ‘I love the D’… and it held me over for a little while.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, she shared that her first kiss didn’t happen until she was 21 — and it wasn’t exactly a fairytale moment. “Nobody wanted to kiss me,” she said, adding that when it finally did happen, it felt forced and left her upset. “I was like, ‘My first kiss is ruined.’”
Now 37, Lizzo is in a committed relationship with actor-comedian Myke Wright, whom she’s been publicly linked to since 2022. The two met in 2016, while working on MTV’s Wonderland, building a friendship before things turned romantic. In June of 2022, the couple made their public debut at a promotional event for the singer’s Prime Video reality show, “Watch out for the Big Grrrls”. “When the time was right, we came together,” she previously said, adding, “We’re very much locked in.”

Lizzo’s revelation cuts through the usual timelines and expectations around sex, success, and self-worth. Particularly, in an industry that often places heavy emphasis on image and desirability, fans praised the singer for owning her journey on her terms and without apology.
