It seems J. Cole is officially back on the court.

On April 1, ESPN reported that the rapper had signed with the Chinese Basketball Association’s Nanjing Monkey Kings, and footage circulating online showed him arriving in China and getting to work with the team. People also reported that Cole confirmed the move and described it as a chance to “scratch a last itch” before heading out on tour.

Videos posted around the announcement show Cole warming up on the floor, getting shots up before tipoff and meeting fans courtside. In another clip, he is seen signing his first autograph as a CBA player.

The move marks Cole’s third stint in professional basketball. He previously suited up for the Rwanda Patriots in the Basketball Africa League in 2021 and later played for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League in 2022.

Cole’s latest basketball move comes just a few months after the release of The Fall-Off, which dropped in February, and just ahead of his upcoming world tour. Official tour listings show The Fall-Off Tour starting in Charlotte on July 11, with stops scheduled in cities including Miami, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

For now, Cole is adding one more overseas basketball chapter to his resume before the tour run begins this summer.
