Graphic designer Allan Peters is taking responsibility after a potential collaboration with A$AP Rocky fell apart over a private Instagram message.
Peters addressed the viral situation this week, explaining why he publicly shared a direct message from Rocky that appeared to be the beginning of a legitimate business conversation.
According to Peters, Rocky had contacted him about possible revisions to a brand logo. As both a designer and a fan of the rapper, Peters said the message caught him off guard and he reacted without fully considering how the post might be received.
“I got too excited,” Peters explained in a video posted Wednesday, August 5.
He said he initially believed sharing the interaction would come across as a compliment rather than a violation of privacy.
Allan Peters Says He Misread the Situation
Peters explained that followers have previously posted their own interactions with him online, which made him assume Rocky might view the situation similarly.
“I thought he would take it as a compliment,” Peters said, describing the post as something he believed was friendly at the time.
Rocky apparently saw things very differently.
“He didn’t take it as such and asked me to take down the post,” Peters continued. “I took it down, and I apologized to him, and that’s all there is to it.”
Peters did not reveal whether he and Rocky spoke privately again following the apology.
Rocky has also not publicly indicated whether there is any possibility of the collaboration being revived.
Why A$AP Rocky Called Out Allan Peters
The controversy began after Peters uploaded a screenshot of a private message he received from A$AP Rocky.
In the message, Rocky reportedly asked Peters for a price estimate involving “brand logo revisions” and told the designer he admired his work.
Rocky reportedly wrote that he would be “honored” to work with Peters.
Peters then shared Rocky’s portion of the conversation on Instagram alongside the caption, “I have no words,” appearing stunned that the rapper had personally contacted him.
The post quickly gained attention, but Rocky soon appeared in the comments and made it clear he was not happy that the private business inquiry had been made public.
“THIS IS JUST DISTASTEFUL, WELL I GUESS WON’T BE WORKING, BEST OF LUCK BUDDY,” Rocky wrote.

The response immediately sparked a wider debate online about professionalism, privacy and the temptation to turn major career moments into social media content.
