Chris Brown is not letting the reviews for his new album pass quietly.
The singer responded after Pitchfork published a sharply critical review of his latest project, BROWN, which was released on May 8. The publication gave the album a 1.3 out of 10 and described it as “a real piece of shit,” while also calling it a “soulless, hit-chasing” project.

Brown addressed the backlash on Instagram Stories, telling fans he was not concerned about people who were never going to support the album in the first place. “I know exactly who my fans are and I know exactly who’s hearing this album,” he said, before adding that non-fans could “go listen to” Zara Larsson instead.
Earlier this year, Larsson said in a Cosmopolitan interview that she had blocked several artists on Spotify over abuse allegations and specifically referenced Brown. “You certainly wouldn’t find abusers like a Chris Brown song,” she said at the time.
The Pitchfork review also sparked debate beyond Brown’s own response. Some fans argued that the language used in the review went beyond music criticism and became openly disrespectful. Others defended the review as part of a larger conversation around Brown’s public history, his continued commercial support, and how critics should write about artists whose personal controversies remain central to their public image.
Brown went on to tell his supporters that he was focused on his fans, his upcoming tour, and what he has planned next. TMZ reported that he also referenced his upcoming R&B tour with Usher, which is expected to begin in June.
