Cam’Ron has sparked a fresh NBA debate after saying LeBron James should not be considered an all-time great Laker.

During an appearance on First Take on Tuesday, Cam made it clear that he was not questioning LeBron’s larger basketball legacy. His point was more specific: when the conversation is limited to Lakers history, he does not believe LeBron belongs in the same category as the franchise’s most iconic names.

“You’re not going to be considered Magic Johnson or James Worthy, or a Kareem, or Kobe Bryant,” Cam’Ron said.

The comment quickly spread online, especially after LeBron and the Lakers’ latest playoff exit. For many fans, Cam’s argument comes down to time, banners and legacy inside Los Angeles. Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy all spent major portions of their careers with the Lakers and won multiple championships in purple and gold.

LeBron joined the Lakers in 2018 at age 33 and helped deliver the franchise’s 17th championship in 2020. That title remains a major part of his Lakers story, but some fans agreed with Cam that it does not automatically place him beside the franchise’s homegrown or long-tenured legends.

“I mean he’s somewhat right. Lebron has been a great player for the franchise but he’s not on Magic, Keem and Kobe level,” one X user wrote.

Others felt the take went too far. One user pushed back by saying Cam was “out of his mind,” pointing to LeBron’s championship run and sustained elite play in Los Angeles.
