Usher has responded after a viral concert clip convinced some fans that the man on stage might not actually have been him.

The bizarre theory began circulating after footage from the singer’s August 7 performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey spread across social media.

In several clips, Usher could be seen wearing a hat and sunglasses that covered much of his face, prompting viewers to scrutinize his appearance and mannerisms.

It did not take long for the internet to take things much further.

Some fans began claiming that Usher had sent a lookalike or even a “clone” to perform in his place.

One viral post reportedly attracted more than 4 million views, with the user accusing the singer of misleading concertgoers and demanding a refund.

Similar speculation quickly spread to TikTok, where users compared the performer’s face, movements and overall appearance to older footage of Usher.

Usher eventually addressed the theories himself and appeared far more entertained than concerned.

Responding to comments on Instagram on August 9, the R&B star joked about the idea that someone else had taken his place on stage.

“Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” he wrote.

In another response, Usher questioned how fans had even reached that conclusion.

“How ya’ll come up with this?” he asked.

He later added, “AI ain’t that advanced.”

The comments appeared to put an end to any serious suggestion that a body double had been performing in his place, while also giving fans another reason to keep sharing the viral clips.

Much of the confusion appeared to come from Usher’s styling during the performance.

With his face partially obscured by sunglasses and a hat, some viewers argued that he looked different enough to raise questions.

Others pointed to changes in lighting, camera angles and the grainy quality of circulating footage as more likely explanations.

Still, the unusual theory quickly gained traction across social media, adding Usher to a growing list of celebrities who have faced online conspiracies involving clones, doubles and artificial intelligence.

The viral moment comes as Usher continues touring alongside Chris Brown on their Raymond & Brown Tour.

The co-headlining R&B trek kicked off in June and is scheduled to continue across North America through December.
