Tyga is taking his controversial $TARFACE era on the road.
The Los Angeles rapper has announced two live shows tied to the project, beginning September 10 at The Roxy in Los Angeles before heading to Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 12.
For now, those are the only dates announced, giving fans just two opportunities to see the $TARFACE concept performed live.
The shows arrive as Tyga continues facing criticism over the project, including a recent diss from Doja Cat and an especially harsh review from Pitchfork.
Tyga Brings $TARFACE Concept to Los Angeles and New York
$TARFACE was built around an ’80s-inspired character and visual identity, with Tyga expanding beyond a traditional rap sound.
The album pulls from pop, R&B, synth-wave, dance, funk and soul while leaning heavily into retro production and imagery.
Tyga now appears ready to bring that world into a live setting.
The upcoming performances are expected to combine music, fashion, visuals and production elements built around the $TARFACE persona rather than operating as standard Tyga concerts.
The Roxy show will serve as the live debut of the concept on September 10, followed by the Brooklyn performance two days later.
No additional dates have been announced.
Doja Cat Calls Out Tyga Over AI Album
The tour announcement comes shortly after Doja Cat publicly criticized Tyga over his use of artificial intelligence on the project.
During a livestream Wednesday, Doja offered an unfiltered reaction to the album.
“Tyga is a penis for making an A.I. album,” she said.
The comment quickly gained attention because Doja and Tyga have collaborated multiple times in the past.
The pair first worked together on the 2019 remix of “Juicy” and later reunited for “Freaky Deaky” in 2022.
Tyga has previously defended his use of artificial intelligence, comparing the technology to tools such as Auto-Tune and framing it as another way for artists to experiment creatively.
Doja clearly did not agree.
Pitchfork Gives $TARFACE Brutal Reception
Doja Cat’s criticism was not the only negative reaction surrounding the album.
Pitchfork reportedly gave $TARFACE a 0/10 rating, marking an unusually severe response to the project.
The review added to the wider debate around Tyga’s use of AI and whether the technology belongs in music creation at all.
Despite the backlash, Tyga appears committed to continuing the $TARFACE rollout rather than distancing himself from the concept.
