Too $hort is walking back his comments about attending a welcome-home party for Sean “Diddy” Combs following the music mogul’s eventual release from federal prison.

The Oakland rap legend issued an apology after receiving backlash for saying he would support a celebration for Diddy. Too $hort now says his original remarks were “insensitive” and made before he fully understood the extent of the abuse allegations involving Combs.

“I was a little insensitive with my words,” Too $hort said in an Instagram video addressing the controversy.

Too $hort Says He Wasn’t Fully Aware Of Diddy Allegations

Too $hort acknowledged that he was aware of the surveillance footage showing Diddy assaulting Cassie Ventura. However, he said he did not realize how many women had accused the Bad Boy Records founder of abuse.

“I really didn’t know the full extent of the case,” he explained.

Following the backlash, Too $hort said he took time to learn more about the allegations and reconsidered his previous remarks.

“I have listened, I have learned, I read up on it,” he said. “I am more informed.”

The rapper also made his position on abuse clear, saying he does not condone or support it.

Too $hort Clarifies His Comments About Diddy’s Parties

Too $hort also clarified what he meant when discussing attending a future Diddy party.

According to the rapper, he was referring to the regular gatherings Diddy previously hosted for friends — not events involving alleged sexual activity.

Too $hort said he attended dozens of Diddy’s parties over the years and disputed the idea that every gathering hosted by the music mogul was sexual in nature.

“Every party he threw was a sex party. It was not like that ever, ever, ever,” he said while rejecting that characterization.

His clarification comes after Diddy’s federal criminal trial included testimony involving allegations of violence, coercion and paid sexual encounters.

Too $hort Hopes Diddy Changes After Prison

Diddy is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following his 2025 conviction on two counts related to transporting people for prostitution.

Jurors acquitted him of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges.

Despite the controversy, Too $hort said he hopes Diddy uses his time in prison to change.

“I hope that when my brother comes home, that he has grown,” he said. “I hope that when he comes home, that he’s not an abuser anymore.”

Too $hort Apologizes To Anyone Hurt By His Comments

Too $hort concluded his response by apologizing to people who were offended or hurt by his original remarks.

“If anything I said hurt anybody, I really do regret it,” he said.

He extended the apology to both men and women who took issue with his comments.
