Soulja Boy’s legal issues are continuing, and now his music residuals could become part of the fallout.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the rapper’s ex-girlfriend and former assistant has filed a notice announcing her intent to sell Soulja Boy’s rights to collect music residuals from Broadcast Music. The woman, who filed the case as Jane Doe, reportedly says she plans to sell those rights to the highest bidder in an effort to collect on the money she is owed.

The reported move comes after Jane Doe was awarded nearly $4 million following a civil jury trial against Soulja Boy. The jury found the rapper liable for sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and other claims tied to the woman’s lawsuit.

Jane Doe previously worked as Soulja Boy’s assistant before the two entered a romantic relationship that reportedly lasted around two years. Her lawsuit accused the rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, of abusive conduct during their relationship and employment period.

Now, after securing the judgment, she appears to be taking steps to collect the money through Soulja Boy’s music income. The court filing reportedly states that the sale of his rights to collect residuals will move forward unless Soulja Boy objects.

Music residuals can be a major revenue stream for artists, especially when their songs continue to generate money through radio play, licensing, publishing, and performance rights. For Soulja Boy, whose catalog includes major records like “Crank That,” the attempt to sell off residual rights could become a significant development in the judgment collection process.

Soulja Boy’s legal team has previously pushed back against the verdict. At the time of the jury’s decision, his lawyer argued that “the evidence does not support the verdict.”

The latest filing does not mean the residuals have already been sold. However, it signals that Jane Doe is actively trying to enforce the judgment and collect the money awarded to her in court.

The court will now wait to see whether Soulja Boy objects before the proposed sale process moves forward.
