Doja Cat is dating again, but not in the way you’d expect.

In her April cover story with Vogue, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about her love life with the kind of blunt honesty that’s become her signature. While she confirmed she’s currently seeing someone, she made it clear that her relationship with independence matters just as much.

“I’m 30, so I’m ovulating and horny,” she said, before describing herself as a “serial dater.”

This is a throwback to her 2023 conversation with Harper’s BAZAAR, where she described herself as someone who “loves love,” even calling herself “possibly a serial dater”. At the time, she said she was in a “very committed” relationship and learning how to love differently as she grew into herself.

Now, Doja explained that, after years of therapy, she’s learned to find comfort in distance rather than constant connection. “My favorite part is when they leave,” she said, describing a version of dating that doesn’t revolve around attachment or anxiety.

“That’s what therapy has done for me,” she added. “It’s allowed me to be away and be at peace without being like, ‘I need tarot cards. I need an answer. Text me.’ I don’t do any of that anymore. It’s very nice.”

Doja, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, was last linked to actor Joseph Quinn after the two were spotted together in London in August 2024.

Before that, she dated comedian Jeffrey “J” Cyrus, though she’s kept her current situation largely private.

The interview also arrives alongside more personal disclosures from the artist. Earlier this month, Doja revealed on TikTok that she has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD), explaining that years of masking her emotions had caught up with her.

“I’ve learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I’m happy… to appear like everything is okay,” she said. “And it caught up with me.”

She added that managing BPD is something she will likely deal with long-term, but said she feels “relieved” and “proud” of the progress she’s made in her life through therapy.
