Sexyy Red reportedly sent an emotional letter to the judge overseeing late producer Tay Keith’s lawsuit over allegedly unpaid music royalties.

According to TMZ, the rapper wrote the letter on June 6, days before Keith was found dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18 at age 29.

In the letter, Sexyy Red disputed the allegations against her and said she was upset after recently discovering she had been named as a defendant.

The “Pound Town” rapper reportedly explained that artists do not personally manage payments to producers, claiming those agreements are handled through record labels.

Sexyy Red Addresses Tay Keith Lawsuit

Sexyy Red described Tay Keith as both a close friend and a trusted creative partner.

She maintained that any money allegedly owed to the producer was the responsibility of her label and said she believed the payment process was already underway.

Sexyy Red also claimed she had not yet received payment for several songs she recorded with Keith, describing the delay as part of the label’s process after expenses are recouped.

She reportedly told the judge that Keith had also questioned why she was personally included in the lawsuit.

The rapper ultimately asked the court to remove her name from the case.

Tay Keith Claimed He Was Unpaid for 13 Songs

Tay Keith filed the lawsuit in March 2026, alleging he had produced 13 songs for Sexyy Red in 2024 without receiving the royalties he believed he was owed. The dispute remained unresolved at the time of his death, although representatives said negotiations were progressing.

A representative for Keith later clarified that the disagreement was between the parties’ respective labels and that Sexyy Red was named in the case as a legal formality.

The representative said the allegations were aimed at the label rather than Sexyy Red personally.

Attorney Dameka Davis, who represents the label, also said royalty negotiations are typically managed by record companies instead of artists. She claimed the label had been working with Keith’s legal team to finalize an agreement compensating him for his contributions.

Sexyy Red and Tay Keith worked together on multiple records, including her breakout hit “Pound Town.”
