Kodak Black is facing another legal battle in Florida.
The rapper, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was arrested in Orange County on Wednesday, May 6, on a felony charge of trafficking MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy. According to TMZ, the case is tied to a November 2025 police encounter in Orlando, where officers responded to reports of gunfire and later searched a vehicle connected to the scene.
Authorities allege that police found MDMA, around $37,000 in cash, and documents bearing Kapri’s name inside a pink bag. The Guardian also reported that police said Kapri’s fingerprints were found on a prescription bottle inside the bag, though his attorney is pushing back against the case.

Kodak has pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. AP reported that his bond was set at $75,000.
His attorney, Bradford Cohen, told TMZ that the arrest was a coordinated surrender related to the November case. Cohen argued that Kodak was not the passenger in the searched vehicle and said the trafficking charge has a “weak legal basis.” He added, “We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed.”
The arrest adds to Kodak’s long and complicated legal history. The Florida rapper has previously faced drug and weapons-related cases, and his federal prison sentence in a firearms case was commuted by Donald Trump in 2021. Since then, Kodak has continued to release music while also dealing with recurring legal issues.

For now, the case appears to hinge on what prosecutors can connect directly to Kodak from the November search. His legal team is already signaling that they plan to fight the charge, while prosecutors are expected to argue that the items found in the bag tie him to the alleged trafficking offense
