Kehlani is making it very clear she stands on business when it comes to her political views.
The singer sparked a wave of reactions after posting a blunt message to her Instagram Story aimed at fans connected to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Public service announcement: don’t ever fix your mouth to speak to me or ask for a photo,” she wrote. “Don’t compliment me if you work for I.C.E.” She then doubled down with a second line that spread quickly online: “I’m dead to you. Don’t acknowledge me and delete all my music.”

The post landed hard because it was not coming out of nowhere. Kehlani has already spoken out against ICE before. Billboard reported that she was among the artists reacting publicly to ICE-related protests in Los Angeles in June 2025, and Billboard also noted that in November 2025 she accused ICE of “kidnapping” people out of their jobs, homes and even immigration appointments.
That wider context matters because ICE has remained a flashpoint in the U.S. far beyond celebrity commentary. The agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations division oversees arrests, detention and removals, and detention conditions have drawn renewed scrutiny this year. Last week, Reuters reported that a recent ICE inspection found 49 detention-standard violations at Camp East Montana in El Paso, including problems involving use of force, medical and mental health care, security, and detainee safety. At the same time, advocacy groups have continued to raise concerns about expanding detention capacity and the treatment of families and children in custody.
Kehlani’s latest post now folds into that same ongoing conversation, with the singer again using her platform to draw a hard personal line around an agency that remains one of the most heavily criticized parts of the U.S. immigration system.
