According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) inmate database, the music mogul is now scheduled for release on January 24, 2028, marking the latest adjustment to his projected release date following his 2025 federal sentencing.
Diddy's Release Date Updated to January 2028
Combs was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison in October 2025 after being convicted on federal sex crime charges.
Since entering federal custody, his projected release date has changed several times. His initial release date was listed as May 8, 2028, before it was later moved to April 25, 2028. The Bureau of Prisons now lists January 24, 2028, as his anticipated release date.
Previous reports indicated one of the earlier date changes came after a prison disciplinary matter involving alleged homemade prison wine. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the reason for the latest adjustment.
Report: Diddy Involved in Altercation at FCI Fort Dix
The updated release date comes shortly after reports claimed Combs was involved in a confrontation with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to TMZ, the incident reportedly began after another inmate allegedly made insulting remarks toward Combs, leading to a physical altercation before correctional staff intervened. The report also claimed Combs was temporarily placed in solitary confinement following the incident.
Federal prison officials have declined to confirm or discuss the reported altercation.
An FCI Fort Dix spokesperson stated that the facility does not disclose internal information regarding inmates.
"We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody," the spokesperson said. "Such information would not be available for the public domain."
The Federal Bureau of Prisons also reiterated that it does not comment on disciplinary matters involving individual inmates because of privacy, safety, and security concerns.
Diddy Continues Appeal of Federal Conviction
While serving his sentence, Combs continues to challenge his conviction through the federal appeals process.
His latest legal filing reportedly argues that recorded encounters introduced during the case should be viewed as consensual amateur pornography rather than evidence of criminal conduct under the Mann Act.
The appeal remains pending, and no ruling has been issued.
Trump Clemency Reports Surface
Earlier this month, CBS News reported that Combs was among several high-profile individuals who were considered for executive clemency by President Donald Trump ahead of the America 250 and Freedom 250 celebrations.
Despite the speculation, no pardon or commutation was granted.
Bureau of Prisons Lists January 24, 2028 Release
As of the latest Bureau of Prisons update, Sean "Diddy" Combs' projected release date remains January 24, 2028.
