Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group are facing a lawsuit over two canceled concerts in North Carolina.

Promoter Omega14 Incorporated has sued Ross, MMG and the rapper’s touring company over performances that were scheduled to take place in Greensboro and Charlotte as part of his Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Orchestra Tour.

According to the complaint, the promoter claims the last-minute cancellations resulted in approximately $261,000 in losses.

The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of Ross’ 2006 debut album, Port of Miami, which helped establish the Miami rapper as a major name in hip-hop.

Rick Ross Accused Of Canceling North Carolina Shows

According to the lawsuit, Ross allegedly agreed to perform for at least one hour at each of the two North Carolina concerts.

Omega14 claims the agreement only permitted cancellations under limited circumstances involving “severe injury or death.”

The promoter alleges that MMG manager Tawanda Roberts contacted organizers around 1 p.m. on the day of the Greensboro concert and informed them that Ross “refused to perform” at both North Carolina dates.

The Greensboro show was scheduled for later that night, while the Charlotte concert was set to take place the following day.

Ross and the other defendants have not publicly responded to the allegations.

Promoter Claims Cancellations Caused $261,000 In Losses

Omega14 claims it suffered approximately $261,000 in financial losses because of the canceled performances.

According to the complaint, those expenses included venue costs, production, marketing, transportation and lodging.

The promoter also alleges that the cancellations affected other people involved in the concerts, including orchestral musicians, choir members and venue operators.

The lawsuit reportedly characterizes the defendants’ alleged conduct as “unethical, unscrupulous, and substantially injurious” to businesses and consumers.

Those claims remain allegations and have not been established in court.

Lawsuit Claims Rick Ross Performed Elsewhere

The complaint also alleges that Ross appeared at events in Orlando and Miami Beach on the same dates as the canceled North Carolina performances.

Omega14 argues that those alleged appearances conflict with any suggestion that Ross was unable to perform because of a severe injury or illness.

The lawsuit is now seeking to recover the promoter’s alleged losses stemming from the canceled shows.

Neither Ross, Maybach Music Group nor his touring company has publicly addressed the lawsuit as of the latest reports.

Rick Ross’ Port Of Miami Anniversary Tour

The disputed concerts were connected to Ross’ Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Orchestra Tour, celebrating two decades since the release of his debut studio album.

Released in 2006, Port of Miami became a major moment in Ross’ career and featured his breakout hit “Hustlin’.”

The project helped launch a career that would later include numerous albums, collaborations and the creation of Maybach Music Group.

The lawsuit now puts two dates from the anniversary celebration at the center of a legal dispute, with Omega14 seeking compensation for what it claims were significant financial losses caused by the cancellations.
