One of hip-hop’s most celebrated recent partnerships may officially be over.

Hit-Boy has revealed that he has not spoken to Nas in three years and does not expect the two to work together again despite an incredible run that produced six albums in just three years.

The Grammy-winning producer opened up about his relationship with Nas during a new VladTV interview with DJ Vlad and Elliott Wilson, revealing that there is much more behind their apparent split than he is willing to discuss publicly.

“I ain’t spoke to Nas in 3 years,” Hit-Boy said. “We did 80 songs in 3 years. I produced almost every single song.”

He added, “We did a lot of great work but I don’t see us working again.”

When asked what happened between the two, Hit-Boy stopped short of revealing specifics.

“I mean there’s a lot of reasons,” he explained, adding that there are certain things he does not want to “dig too deep” into.

Despite whatever happened behind the scenes, Hit-Boy made it clear that he still respects what he and Nas accomplished together.

The comments immediately caught fans’ attention because the producer and Queensbridge legend spent several years operating as one of hip-hop’s most prolific artist-producer combinations.

Their partnership resulted in roughly 80 songs and six full-length albums between 2020 and 2023.

The run began with “King’s Disease” in 2020 before continuing with “King’s Disease II,” “Magic,” “King’s Disease III,” “Magic 2” and finally “Magic 3” in 2023.

Rather than simply producing occasional tracks for Nas, Hit-Boy became the primary architect behind an entire era of the rapper’s career.

Their work also brought Nas a major career milestone.

“King’s Disease” earned Nas his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, while subsequent projects continued receiving critical acclaim and helped introduce another chapter of his career to a younger generation of listeners.

Their pace was especially unusual.

Engineer David Kim previously revealed that the duo did not simply have albums sitting in a vault waiting to be released. Work on “Magic 3,” for example, reportedly began shortly after “Magic 2” arrived, highlighting how quickly Nas and Hit-Boy were creating during the run.

Hit-Boy’s latest comments also stand in sharp contrast to where things appeared to be when their six-album run ended.

After releasing “Magic 3” in September 2023, Nas publicly celebrated what the pair had accomplished and suggested there was nothing stopping them from eventually making more music together.

“We can definitely go for more albums, easily,” Nas said at the time.

Hit-Boy similarly celebrated the accomplishment, revealing that years before ever meeting Nas, he had written down a goal of producing just three songs for the legendary rapper.

He ultimately ended up producing six entire albums.

Now, however, Hit-Boy says the two have apparently gone years without speaking.

Hit-Boy did not accuse Nas of wrongdoing or reveal exactly what caused their working relationship to end.

Instead, his refusal to “dig too deep” into the reasons has left fans with more questions than answers.

There is also an important distinction in his comments: Hit-Boy did not say the pair could never reconcile. He simply said he does not currently see them working together again.

Nas has not publicly responded to Hit-Boy’s latest remarks.

Whatever happened behind the scenes, the producer still appears proud of the music they created.
