Pooh Shiesty’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is pushing back against federal prosecutors trying to keep him behind bars as his criminal case unfolds.
According to court filings, Williams Sr. argues the government’s case is weak and fails to prove he poses any danger to the community if released while awaiting trial.
The case stems from a January 10 incident at a Texas recording studio, where authorities allege Williams Sr., his son, and several others were involved in the kidnapping and robbery of Gucci Mane. At the time, Pooh Shiesty was signed to Gucci Mane’s label and allegedly wanted out of his contract.
Prosecutors claim the situation escalated inside the studio, with Pooh Shiesty allegedly forcing Gucci Mane to sign paperwork releasing him from the deal while holding him at gunpoint.
In his latest filing, Williams Sr. disputes the prosecution’s version of events, opposing their attempt to detain him until trial. Authorities allege he traveled from Memphis to Dallas, booked the studio, printed the contract release documents, and was present during the alleged incident.
But his defense is pushing back hard.
His lawyer described the evidence as “profoundly underwhelming,” arguing there is no direct proof linking Williams Sr. to any conspiracy to kidnap or rob Gucci Mane.
Williams Sr. maintains he traveled to Dallas on December 29, 2025, on his own to care for his son, who he says was unwell. He also disputes claims that he played a central role in planning the incident, stating that booking studios was a routine part of supporting his son’s music career.

He further challenges the government’s claim that he printed the alleged contract release at a Staples store, saying prosecutors have provided no evidence to support that accusation.
A judge has not yet ruled on whether Williams Sr. will remain in custody or be released while the case moves forward, leaving a key decision still pending in the high-profile investigation.
