Playboi Carti has fans reading between the lines after dropping a cryptic verse on Ken Carson’s new album, Xperiment.

The project arrived on July 4 and includes Carti on the track “wedidit.” One bar in particular quickly caught attention online, with listeners believing the Opium rapper may have sent a message toward Drake.

On the song, Carti raps, “Teen X done told you, I’ll blast at you, crodie.”

Although Carti never says Drake’s name directly, fans immediately focused on the word “crodie.” The Toronto slang term has long been associated with Drake, which led many listeners to believe the line was more than a random lyric.

The speculation comes after Drake appeared to take a subtle shot at Carti on “Whisper My Name,” a track from his new album ICEMAN. On that record, Drake raps, “Baby boy, please. I heard what you said to lil’ bro about me. Yeah, and when you run into the Iceman, what you gon’ do except freeze?”

Neither rapper has confirmed that the lyrics are aimed at the other. Still, the timing has made fans believe a quiet back-and-forth may be unfolding.

Carti’s “Teen X” reference also stood out to listeners. The phrase traces back to his 2020 Whole Lotta Red collaboration with Future and has remained tied to Carti’s sound, fanbase and Opium movement. Its placement on Ken Carson’s album only added more attention to the track.

Rumors of tension between Drake and Carti have been building for months. Fans previously thought the two were on good terms, especially after speculation that Carti could appear on Drake’s “No Face.” However, the conversation shifted after Carti linked with Kendrick Lamar on MUSIC, fueling more debate about where loyalties stand.

For now, the rumored feud remains unconfirmed. However, with “wedidit” and “Whisper My Name” both circulating heavily, hip-hop fans are treating every line like a clue.

Until Playboi Carti or Drake speaks directly, the internet will keep dissecting the bars.
