Former NBA star Paul Pierce claims he is “drowning financially” after losing his Fox Sports income, despite reportedly earning around $200 million throughout his basketball career.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Boston Celtics legend revealed that his final Fox Sports paycheck arrived in August. Pierce claims his average monthly income dropped from approximately $119,000 to zero, although he earned around $23,000 through other business ventures last month.
The former NBA champion says he currently has approximately $300,000 in the bank and owns $3 million worth of property. However, his financial obligations reportedly include $28,000 in monthly child support and another $20,000 in spousal support.
Pierce also disclosed roughly $48,000 in monthly living expenses, including $8,000 for childcare, $7,000 for dining out, $5,000 for groceries, and $3,500 for entertainment.
The financial struggles surfaced amid an ongoing legal dispute with his ex-wife, Princess Santiago, who is requesting an additional $40,000 in legal fees and $10,000 for a forensic accountant to review his finances.
Pierce is fighting the request, with his attorney arguing that the former NBA star would have “great difficulty” covering the additional costs following the termination of his Fox Sports contract.
The court previously ordered Pierce to pay Santiago $8,508 in temporary monthly child support for their son, King, along with $100,000 in legal fees.
