NBA YoungBoy’s relationship with his mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, appears to have taken another ugly turn.
Gaulden publicly called out her son after the rapper discussed their strained relationship during a recent appearance on the “Open Thoughts” podcast, where he suggested the two may never speak again.
YoungBoy said his mother had been a source of some of the anger he carried in the past, while making it clear that he still has love for her from a distance.
His comments did not sit well with Gaulden.
Shortly afterward, she took to Instagram with a series of posts aimed at her son, including allegations about his relationship with his own children.
NBA YoungBoy’s Mom Calls Him an Absent Father
According to TMZ, Gaulden accused YoungBoy of being an absent father and claimed he does not communicate with some of his children.
Her response came directly after clips from his “Open Thoughts” interview began circulating online.
Gaulden also initially claimed she had been present during the interview, though she later clarified that she had confused it with a different conversation involving her son.
Still, her frustration remained clear.
She later posted a message to her Instagram Story warning YoungBoy to stop speaking publicly about her.
The exchange quickly drew attention online given how openly both sides were discussing their fractured relationship.
NBA YoungBoy Says He Loves His Mom “From Afar”
During the podcast appearance, YoungBoy spoke candidly about the distance between himself and Gaulden.
The rapper suggested that their relationship may have reached a point where reconciliation is unlikely, saying he does not expect them to speak again.
At the same time, YoungBoy made it clear that he still cares about his mother despite the tension between them.
His comments appeared to frame the separation as something he had accepted, but Gaulden’s response suggested she was far from ready to let the subject go.
Sherhonda Gaulden Has Defended YoungBoy in the Past
YoungBoy and his mother have not always been publicly at odds.
Gaulden previously defended her son during his highly publicized feud with Kodak Black in 2020.
At the time, Kodak accused YoungBoy of cooperating with authorities following the arrest of Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, who was then dating YoungBoy.
Mayweather was arrested after allegedly stabbing another woman during an altercation at YoungBoy’s home.
Gaulden publicly stood behind her son during the controversy, making their current fallout even more noticeable to longtime fans.
For now, neither YoungBoy nor his mother appears ready to soften their stance.
