Megan Thee Stallion’s Broadway era was supposed to be all glitz, big vocals, and a victory lap. Instead, it took a worrying turn on Tuesday night when the rapper reportedly fell ill in the middle of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, forcing the show to stop and sending fans into instant panic mode.
According to multiple reports, Megan began feeling unwell during the March 31 performance at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre and was quickly taken to a local hospital for evaluation. A spokesperson for the production told PEOPLE she became “very ill” during the show, while audience members said the performance was paused as staff told people to remain seated while the situation was assessed. The show later resumed with an understudy taking over her role.
So far, there has not been a fuller update on exactly what caused the medical scare. What has surfaced, though, is the wave of concern that followed almost immediately. Megan’s hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted from the hospital asking fans to pray for her.
This was meant to mark a major new chapter for Megan, who made her Broadway debut on March 24 as Harold Zidler in a limited run that was scheduled to continue through May 17, becoming the first female-identifying performer to take on the role in the production. Her casting had been pitched as one of the splashiest late-stage additions to “Moulin Rouge!” before the show’s final Broadway months.
Fans are concerned because Megan had been openly excited about stepping into the theater, framing the role as both an honor and a creative stretch beyond music.

For now, there is still no confirmed word on whether her upcoming performances will be affected. Until that update lands, the spotlight has shifted from Megan’s big Broadway moment to her recovery, with fans waiting for the Hottie captain to bounce back soon.
