Kehlani has been forced to cancel two stops on her world tour after an unexpected trip to the hospital left her medically unable to perform.
The singer announced Wednesday that her scheduled concerts in Camden, New Jersey, and Columbia, Maryland, would not go forward after she experienced severe pain and difficulty swallowing.
Kehlani shared the disappointing update directly with fans on Instagram, explaining that the health scare seemingly came out of nowhere after spending two days off feeling completely normal.
“i’ve been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain,” she wrote. “i just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows.”
She added, “i’m so sorry Camden & DC. my team is working on a solution.”
Kehlani Hospitalized Before Camden Tour Stop
Kehlani had been scheduled to perform Wednesday at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden before heading to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, on Thursday.
Instead, doctors advised her to rest her voice following the emergency hospital visit.
The last-minute cancellations were especially difficult for Kehlani, who said she takes extensive precautions to remain healthy while touring.
“breaks my heart to have to ever do this,” she told fans. “i do everything i’m supposed to to ensure my health stays up to par & it still isn’t guaranteed.”
Kehlani did not reveal a specific diagnosis behind the sudden illness.
Kehlani Says Team Is Working on a “Solution” for Canceled Shows
Fans affected by the cancellations may not be completely out of luck.
Kehlani said her team is already working on a solution for the Camden and D.C.-area dates, though she did not confirm whether the concerts will be rescheduled.
The disruption comes during a major 33-date run supporting the singer’s latest chapter.
The tour kicked off earlier this month in Minneapolis and has largely continued as scheduled before this week’s medical setback.
Kehlani World Tour Expected to Resume After Medical Clearance
For now, the remainder of Kehlani’s tour remains on the schedule.
The singer is expected to return to the stage once doctors clear her to perform, with upcoming dates continuing through the fall before the run concludes in San Francisco in October.
Touring can place significant strain on an artist’s voice, particularly across a schedule involving dozens of performances and constant travel.
Kehlani made it clear that she was frustrated to disappoint fans but had little choice after being told she should not sing.
