John Gotti’s grandson Carmine Agnello is getting a little break from his federal prison sentence as his mother, Victoria Gotti, continues her search for a kidney donor.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Carmine’s projected release date has been moved up to September 2, 2027, meaning he is now expected to serve roughly 13 months behind bars instead of his original 15-month sentence.

Carmine surrendered to federal authorities Monday and is currently incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution Fairton in New Jersey.

Carmine pleaded guilty in 2024 to a $1.1 million wire fraud scheme involving COVID-19 relief funds.

Although his sentence has been shortened somewhat, his incarceration comes at a difficult time for his family as Victoria continues dealing with serious complications related to kidney disease.

Carmine had previously hoped to donate one of his kidneys to his mother before reporting to prison.

Carmine was originally scheduled to surrender on July 20, but a judge granted him an extension so he could undergo the kidney donation procedure for Victoria.

However, the surgery was ultimately postponed after Victoria developed an infection.

The court later gave Carmine until August 10 to complete the donation, with a September 18 prison reporting date. That plan also fell through after Victoria was unable to receive medical clearance for the procedure.

Carmine’s attorney, Robert Beltrani, subsequently requested another extension on Monday, but the judge rejected the request. The court did, however, delay Carmine’s prison reporting time by two hours.

Sources close to the Gotti family tell TMZ that Carmine’s efforts to delay his incarceration were motivated by his desire to help his mother, who is battling severe complications from kidney disease.

According to the sources, Carmine was not attempting to avoid his prison sentence. Instead, he wanted to undergo the transplant procedure before beginning his time behind bars.
