Jay-Z has spent years helping decide who gets to perform on music’s biggest stage. Now, the hip-hop mogul is reportedly ready to take that stage himself.

According to an October 20 report from Puck News, the 56-year-old rapper has allegedly selected himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The reported decision comes after weeks of deliberation over potential performers, with Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus reportedly among the leading contenders.

Multiple sources told Puck that Jay-Z ultimately emerged as a more compelling choice than either pop star, setting the stage for what could become one of the most significant performances of his career.

Jay-Z’s Super Bowl Decision Comes After Years Behind the Scenes

Since 2019, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the NFL to curate and produce the Super Bowl halftime show, giving the rapper considerable influence over its musical direction.

The original agreement was reportedly valued at $5 million annually and was extended for another five years in 2024.

Under the partnership, Roc Nation has helped shape several major halftime performances, including shows headlined by Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna and Bad Bunny.

However, Jay-Z has never headlined the Super Bowl halftime show himself.

If the reports prove accurate, the 2027 performance would mark a major shift for the billionaire rapper, putting him directly in the spotlight after years of overseeing the event from behind the scenes.

The potential selection also follows controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s 2026 halftime performance, which drew criticism from some conservative commentators over its predominantly Spanish-language presentation.

Has Jay-Z Been Confirmed for the 2027 Super Bowl?

Despite the growing reports, neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has officially announced Jay-Z as the halftime performer.

TMZ reported reaching out to Roc Nation for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.

Other artists, including Harry Styles, had previously been mentioned as potential candidates for the coveted performance slot
