Cardi B is trying to clear the air with Latto after their private tension spilled back into public view.

The Bronx rapper responded on X after Latto confirmed during her latest interview with The Breakfast Club that lyrics on her new album Big Mama were aimed at Cardi. The comments brought renewed attention to a leaked phone call from 2025, where Cardi was heard referring to Latto in a dismissive way during a heated conversation.

Cardi said she chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect had also become public.

“I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote.

She went on to explain that she did not intend to insult Latto the way it came across in the leaked audio.

“On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm,” Cardi continued. “There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant.”

Cardi added that what she meant to say was that Latto had been “too forgiving” in the situation they were discussing. Still, she admitted that the wording was wrong.

“It was a heated conversation and I let my mouth get the best of me,” she wrote.

The tension traces back to a leaked call that surfaced in 2025, shortly after Latto appeared on Cardi’s “ErrTime” remix. In the audio, a voice believed to be Cardi referenced Latto while ranting during a separate dispute. Cardi apologized at the time, saying she respected Latto and was not too prideful to say sorry publicly.

Latto addressed the situation on “Gimme Dat,” a track from her new album Big Mama. On the song, she raps, “Talkin’ ’bout buyin’ Big Mama a bag like my n***a ain’t already bought it,” a line fans quickly connected to Cardi’s earlier apology about privately buying Latto a bag.

During her Breakfast Club interview, Latto confirmed the lyrics were about Cardi but said she did not view the song as a full diss.

“Well, yes, it was about Cardi,” Latto said, before explaining that the situation hurt because she believed they were on good terms.

Latto said she had rushed to record her “ErrTime” remix verse to support Cardi’s album rollout, only to see the leaked comments appear online days later. She also noted that she was pregnant at the time, which made the situation feel even more personal.

“I'm pregnant, emotions high … and it's someone I deadass looked at as a friend,” Latto said.

Cardi also referenced her own emotional state during that period, saying she was eight months pregnant, had just released her album, and felt overwhelmed when the call became public. She made it clear that this was not meant as an excuse, but as context for where her head was at.

Cardi claimed she made several attempts to reach Latto afterward, including speaking to Latto’s manager and sister, as well as texting Latto directly.

“I always had love and respect for you,” Cardi wrote. “I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us.”

Latto said she is open to having a conversation with Cardi, though she admitted life has moved on since the song was recorded.

The two rappers were previously on friendly terms. Latto appeared in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” video in 2020, later joined Cardi on “Put It On Da Floor Again,” and reunited with her again for the “ErrTime” remix.
