Jennifer An, the woman suing Ye over an alleged incident during a 2010 music video shoot, is speaking out in a new interview about the claims at the center of her lawsuit.
An, a former America’s Next Top Model contestant, appeared on BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, where she became emotional while describing what she alleges happened on the set of Ye and La Roux’s “In for the Kill” collaboration. An filed her lawsuit in 2024, accusing the rapper and producer, formerly known as Kanye West, of gender-motivated violence tied to the alleged encounter.
During the interview, An claimed Ye had her sit in a chair in front of the camera before the situation suddenly turned disturbing. She alleged that he began choking her, first with one hand and then with both, before putting his fingers in her mouth in a way she described as simulating oral sex.
An said she remembered feeling “suffocated,” scared, and unsure of what was happening in the moment. According to her lawsuit, she claims she blacked out during the alleged incident.
The lawsuit also claims that after the alleged encounter, Ye shouted that it was “art” and compared himself to Picasso. An has further alleged that powerful figures in the music industry attempted to bury what happened instead of addressing it publicly.
Ye’s legal team has reportedly pushed back against the claims, arguing the moment was part of an intense creative performance connected to the video shoot. However, An’s lawsuit frames the alleged incident as assault and says she was left traumatized by what took place.
The resurfacing of An’s allegations comes as Ye continues to face public scrutiny over multiple controversies and legal battles. While the case has not been resolved in court, An’s emotional interview has brought renewed attention to the allegations and to broader questions about power, accountability, and conduct behind the scenes in the music industry.
