Sean “Diddy” Combs could be walking out of federal prison sooner than previously expected.
The hip-hop mogul’s projected release date has reportedly been moved up again, with federal records now listing February 5, 2028 as the date Combs is expected to be released from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
His previous projected release date was February 20, 2028, meaning the latest adjustment cuts roughly two additional weeks from his expected time behind bars.
The change is just the latest in a series of updates to Combs’ prison timeline since his highly publicized federal criminal case.
Diddy’s Release Date Has Changed Multiple Times
Combs’ projected release date has moved around considerably since his sentencing.
At one point, records indicated that he could remain incarcerated until June 2028. His projected release was subsequently moved to January 2028 before later being listed as February 20.
Now, federal records reportedly show February 5, 2028.
The Bureau of Prisons can adjust an inmate’s projected release date based on factors including sentence calculations and applicable credits, meaning Combs’ date could potentially change again before 2028.
Why Is Diddy In Federal Prison?
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two federal counts related to transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution.
The charges emerged from the government’s sprawling case surrounding Combs’ private sexual encounters, including events prosecutors frequently referred to during trial as “Freak Offs.”
Prosecutors accused Combs of arranging encounters involving women he was dating and male escorts while sometimes watching or recording what occurred.
However, jurors rejected the government’s most serious accusations.
Combs was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, avoiding convictions that could have exposed him to significantly harsher penalties.
Diddy Was Sentenced to More Than Four Years
In October 2025, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to four years and two months in federal prison.
Because Combs had already spent considerable time in custody before sentencing, that time factored into the calculation of his remaining sentence.
He was later transferred to Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey, where he remains incarcerated.
His time behind bars has not been completely uneventful either.
Reports previously claimed Combs was involved in an altercation with another inmate that temporarily resulted in him being placed in solitary confinement.
Could Diddy Get Out Even Earlier?
For now, February 5, 2028 is the date to watch.
But considering how many times Combs’ projected release has already changed, the possibility of another adjustment cannot be ruled out.
