Sean “Diddy” Combs could now walk out of federal prison just three weeks into 2028 after his projected release date was moved forward yet again

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ time behind bars appears to be getting shorter, with the music mogul receiving yet another adjustment to his projected federal prison release date.

Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list Diddy’s release from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey for January 21, 2028, moving the date up from the previously reported February 5, 2028. Before that, his release had been listed as February 20, while earlier projections stretched considerably further into 2028. (TMZ⁠)

The latest change means Diddy could be a free man just three weeks into 2028 — assuming the date does not shift again.

Exactly why his projected release date has changed several times has not been publicly explained. Federal release dates can be affected by sentence calculations and other factors, meaning the date currently listed should be viewed as a projection rather than a guarantee.

Diddy is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after a jury convicted him in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the far more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges he faced at trial. (Reuters⁠)

In July, Diddy was involved in an altercation with another inmate and was subsequently placed in solitary confinement, according to multiple reports. A source familiar with the incident told ABC News the confrontation followed a remark made by another prisoner, while the Bureau of Prisons declined to discuss disciplinary matters involving individual inmates.
