DaBaby is not backing away from the “best rapper” conversation.

In a recent interview with Nadeska Alexis, the Charlotte rapper was asked whether he really believes he belongs on the same level as Drake, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. His answer was immediate.

“A 1,000%,” he said. “I always say… I’m the best motherfcking rapper. A lot of people say they're the best, but I really mean that. I’m better than these nggas.”

For DaBaby, the claim is not just about confidence or the usual competitive language of rap. He said his belief comes from what he feels he can do when everything is stripped back to the music itself.

“I feel like I have the ability to go anywhere musically,” he said. “If we strip everything away and just go back to being in front of a microphone… I can get in there with the best of them.”

The comments place him directly inside one of hip-hop’s most familiar debates. For years, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole have been treated as rap’s modern “Big Three,” a trio often used to measure commercial dominance, lyrical respect, and cultural impact.

DaBaby, however, is making it clear he does not see that conversation as closed. The rapper, known for hits like “Suge” and “Rockstar,” has always built part of his image around sharp delivery, high energy, and self-belief. Now, he is arguing that his technical ability deserves to be judged in the same space as the genre’s biggest names.

Whether fans agree is another conversation entirely. But DaBaby’s point is simple: he does not want to be discussed as someone outside the top tier looking in.

He believes he is already there.
