Chris Brown has pleaded guilty in connection with a 2023 nightclub incident in London.

The R&B singer entered a guilty plea to affray at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, July 24. His co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded guilty to the same charge. Akinlolu, who performs as HoodyBaby, has been described by prosecutors as Brown’s vocal coach.

The case stems from an incident at Tape London in February 2023. Prosecutors said Brown struck the victim with a glass bottle during the confrontation, while Akinlolu also joined the attack. The Crown Prosecution Service described the incident as “vicious and unprovoked.”

According to prosecutors, the assault continued as the victim tried to escape through the nightclub. The victim was later treated at a hospital for injuries to his head and knees.

Brown had previously faced more serious charges, including assault-related allegations and possession of an offensive weapon. However, prosecutors said those charges will not proceed after the guilty pleas to affray.

Brown was arrested in May 2025 after returning to the U.K. while on tour. A warrant had been issued after he and Akinlolu left the country following the 2023 incident.

Both men were granted bail and are scheduled to be sentenced on October 26 at the same court. The affray charge carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

The guilty plea marks a major update in Brown’s U.K. legal case, which has followed him for more than three years. For now, the singer remains out on bail as he awaits sentencing later this year.
