Chris Brown is fighting for joint custody of his four-year-old daughter, Lovely Symphani Brown, as his increasingly bitter dispute with ex Diamond Brown moves from Instagram into the courtroom.

The Grammy-winning singer has reportedly filed a legal response opposing Diamond’s request for legal and physical custody of Lovely. Instead of being limited to visitation, Chris is asking the court to grant both parents joint legal and physical custody.

The filing marks another escalation in a co-parenting battle that has already produced accusations, deleted posts and public shots from both sides.

Chris Brown Rejects Diamond Brown’s Custody Request

Diamond reportedly filed her paternity and custody case on April 3, asking the court to award her legal and physical custody of Lovely while granting Chris visitation.

According to the filing, Chris previously acknowledged that he was Lovely’s father through a voluntary declaration of paternity. Diamond also stated that Lovely, who was born in January 2022, has lived with her in Los Angeles since birth.

Chris is now pushing back against Diamond’s proposed arrangement. His response requests joint custody, which would formally give him a greater role in decisions concerning Lovely and the time she spends with each parent.

Money is also part of the dispute. Diamond asked the court to require Chris to cover her attorney fees and other legal costs. Chris reportedly wants each side to pay its own expenses instead.

A judge has not yet issued a final ruling on the custody arrangement.

Diamond Brown Fires Off Father’s Day Shade

News of Chris Brown’s legal response arrived as Diamond appeared to take aim at him through a now-deleted Instagram Story repost.

“I see why Father’s Day is in Pride month… bunch of b*****s,” the post read.

Diamond followed it with another message rejecting the label “baby mama” and emphasizing that she considers herself a hardworking, full-time mother.

Although she did not name Chris directly in the initial posts, their timing immediately convinced social media users that the messages were connected to the custody fight.

Diamond turned up the pressure again on June 9 when she shared screenshots of alleged text messages involving a contact identified as “CB.” She also accused Chris of being an “IG dad,” suggesting that his public image as a father does not match her experience behind the scenes.

The authenticity and full context of the alleged messages have not been independently verified.

Chris Brown and Diamond Brown’s Feud Turns Personal

The custody case follows months of public tension between Diamond, Chris and his current girlfriend, Jada Wallace.

Earlier this year, Diamond accused Chris of interfering with her romantic relationships. Jada later entered the argument and alleged that Diamond had prevented Chris from spending time with Lovely.

Diamond disputed that characterization, claiming she had only restricted access following a separate disagreement involving their daughter. Chris largely avoided responding to the exchange, stating at the time that he was not interested in playing “internet games.”

The situation became even more personal after Jada welcomed a baby boy in April, making Chris a father of four.

Along with Lovely, Chris shares daughter Royalty with Nia Guzman and son Aeko with Ammika Harris. His relationship with Royalty has frequently been featured publicly, and he previously named his 2015 album after her.

Now, Chris is asking the court to establish a similar legal parenting role in Lovely’s life—but Diamond’s latest posts suggest that the conflict surrounding that request is only getting uglier.
