Cassie is reportedly moving forward with her life outside the United States after years of legal battles, public scrutiny, and explosive allegations involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.
According to TMZ, the singer and model revealed in a May 1, 2026 court declaration that she no longer lives in the U.S. and does not plan to return. The filing was submitted in connection with an ongoing civil lawsuit in California brought by Clayton Howard, a male escort who previously became linked to the broader Diddy legal saga.
“I reside outside of the United States,” Cassie reportedly stated in the declaration. “I do not intend to move back to the United States.”
The statement marks a major personal shift for Cassie, whose name has remained central to Diddy’s legal troubles since she filed her bombshell lawsuit against him in 2023. That case accused the music mogul of years of abuse, coercion, and control during their relationship. Diddy denied the allegations at the time, but the lawsuit was quickly settled.
Reports have since stated that Cassie received a $20 million settlement from Diddy. She also reportedly received around $10 million in connection with the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City hotel, where surveillance footage showed Diddy assaulting her in a hallway in 2016.
Together, the reported payouts have renewed public attention around Cassie’s life after Diddy, especially now that she says she has left the country.
In the new filing, Cassie also clarified that she remains a U.S. citizen but is not a resident of California. She reportedly noted that any legal proceedings would be easier to manage through New York, where her attorneys are based, rather than California, where Howard’s lawsuit is currently playing out.
Howard’s case includes several serious allegations against both Cassie and Diddy. He claims he was hired for sexual encounters and says those alleged experiences caused him significant harm. His lawsuit also alleges that he contracted an STD and claims Cassie became pregnant before later having an abortion. Cassie has pushed back through legal filings as the case continues.
The lawsuit has become another complicated branch of the long-running Diddy fallout. Howard was also among the individuals who cooperated with federal investigators during the criminal proceedings involving Diddy. Those proceedings placed Cassie’s testimony and past experiences under an intense public spotlight.
Cassie’s recent filing also referenced an alleged private message Howard sent to her husband, Alex Fine, in 2023 after she came forward with her allegations against Diddy. In the message, Howard allegedly said he believed Cassie’s truth was valid and suggested he had witnessed troubling behavior during the years surrounding her relationship with Diddy.
For Cassie, the declaration suggests a desire for distance. After years of being pulled into courtrooms, headlines, and public debate, she appears to be building a life away from the U.S. while still dealing with the legal aftermath of her past.
Her decision also comes after one of the most closely watched celebrity legal scandals in recent memory. The release of the 2016 hotel footage changed public conversation around Diddy and intensified scrutiny over the allegations Cassie had made months earlier. Her testimony and lawsuit were widely seen as a turning point in the broader legal storm around the Bad Boy founder.
Now, Cassie seems focused on protecting her peace and keeping her family life separate from the chaos that continues to unfold in court.
