Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony have reportedly reached a divorce settlement, nearly a decade after their separation and more than five years after the actress filed to end their marriage.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ on November 4, the former NBA star and the Power actress notified the court that they had agreed to confidential settlement terms. While the financial details have not been disclosed, the agreement marks a major development in their years-long divorce proceedings.
TMZ and PEOPLE reported that a judge’s signature was still pending as of November 4. However, E! News reported that the former couple received a certificate of dissolution that same day.
Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony’s Divorce Timeline
Carmelo and La La began dating in 2003 and got engaged on Christmas Day in 2004. The two married in July 2010 during a star-studded New York City ceremony.
Their relationship faced public scrutiny in 2017 when reports of Carmelo’s alleged infidelity surfaced. The couple separated that year before briefly reconciling in 2018.
La La eventually filed for divorce in June 2021, citing irreconcilable differences after more than a decade of marriage.
During a 2022 appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, La La reflected on how the attention surrounding Carmelo’s move to the New York Knicks in 2011 affected their relationship. She explained that the increased public scrutiny made their marriage more difficult.
Despite their separation, both have continued supporting their son, Kiyan Anthony, throughout his basketball journey.
Carmelo and La La Continue Supporting Son Kiyan Anthony
The former couple shares 19-year-old Kiyan Anthony, who is currently a sophomore basketball player at Syracuse University.
Kiyan is following in his father’s footsteps at the same university where Carmelo led the Orange to an NCAA national championship in 2003.
According to TMZ, Kiyan reaching adulthood meant that ordinary child support was no longer an issue in the divorce settlement. E! News reported that a medical child support order was still listed as pending in the court documents.
Carmelo and La La have maintained a cooperative relationship as parents, frequently coming together to celebrate their son’s milestones.
La La Anthony Says She’s Ready to Date Again
The divorce settlement news comes shortly after La La revealed that she is open to finding love again.
During an October 22 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 44-year-old actress described herself as entering her “season of being open.”
La La explained that she is looking for someone confident who enjoys meaningful conversations, trying new things and going on adventures.
Meanwhile, Carmelo retired from professional basketball in 2023 after a 19-season NBA career and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025.
