Boosie Badazz could be headed back to federal prison after probation officers accused the Louisiana rapper of violating the terms of his supervised release.
According to a petition filed on Wednesday, June 24, the U.S. Probation Office recommended that Boosie, whose legal name is Torence Hatch, serve 18 months behind bars following his latest arrest in Texas.
The recommendation comes months after a federal judge spared the rapper from prison and instead sentenced him to three years of supervised release in connection with a gun possession case.
Why Do Probation Officers Want Boosie Badazz Sent to Prison?
Federal authorities claim Boosie violated several conditions of his probation after allegedly assaulting a man at a Houston nightclub in May.
The rapper is accused of striking the alleged victim in the head with a glass hookah. He now faces a state-level aggravated assault charge in Texas.
Committing another local, state or federal crime while on supervised release can result in probation being revoked, even if the new criminal case has not yet been resolved.
Probation officials also accused Boosie of travelling from Georgia to Texas without receiving permission. In addition, the filing claims that the rapper recently tested positive for marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law.
Based on those allegations, the Probation Office argued that Boosie failed to take advantage of the leniency previously shown by the court.
Officials recommended that his supervised release be revoked and replaced with an 18-month federal prison sentence.
Boosie Denies Violating Federal Probation
Boosie quickly pushed back against the accusations in a post shared on X.
The “Wipe Me Down” rapper claimed he received permission to travel to Houston and said he has remained free of drugs since beginning federal supervision.
“IM NOT STUPID,” Boosie wrote, adding that his probation officer has treated him fairly throughout the process.
Boosie suggested that higher-ranking officials were responsible for the effort to revoke his probation. He also said he has already completed several hours of community service and believes he has performed well while under federal supervision.
The rapper maintained that he and his attorneys are working to have the Houston assault case dismissed.
Boosie’s Houston Assault Case Could Carry Additional Consequences
Boosie is currently out on bail in connection with the alleged nightclub assault and is expected to return to court in September.
Probation officials are reportedly asking that any federal sentence be served consecutively to whatever punishment Boosie may receive if he is convicted in Texas.
That means the proposed 18-month federal sentence would begin only after he completed any potential sentence imposed in the Houston case.
However, Boosie has denied the allegations, and the state-level charge remains unresolved.
Boosie Was Previously Spared Prison in Federal Gun Case
The latest legal trouble stems from a federal gun case that has followed Boosie since 2023.
Authorities accused the rapper of possessing a firearm despite having previous felony convictions. According to prosecutors, law enforcement officers in San Diego spotted what appeared to be a gun in Boosie’s waistband while monitoring an Instagram livestream.
Police reportedly used a helicopter to track the rapper before officers stopped his vehicle and recovered a Glock pistol.
After several legal delays, Boosie accepted a plea deal in August 2025, saying he was “tired of fighting” the case.
A federal judge later sentenced him to three years of supervised release rather than prison. Now, probation officers argue that Boosie’s latest arrest and alleged violations justify replacing that sentence with federal prison time.
