A$AP Rocky is taking a little credit for the New York Knicks’ historic NBA Finals comeback.
The Harlem rapper was inside Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night as the Knicks pulled off a stunning 107-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs, coming back from a 29-point deficit in what became the largest single-game comeback in NBA Finals history.
After the final buzzer, Rocky joined the on-court celebration as New York fans erupted over a win that pushed the Knicks to a 3-1 lead in the series. The franchise is now just one victory away from capturing its first NBA championship in more than five decades.
“It’s because of me, I’m the good luck charm!” A$AP Rocky said during an on-court interview after the game. “I was up there cheering from the box, going crazy. Thank me later.”
The night brought out a packed lineup of celebrities and New York favorites, with Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, Nas, Adam Sandler, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift among the stars spotted inside the arena.
The energy was noticeably different from Game 3, when the Knicks fell to the Spurs with former President Donald Trump in attendance. This time around, the Garden crowd had plenty to celebrate as New York flipped the momentum back in its favor with a comeback that instantly became part of Finals history.
The Knicks had opened the series with two close wins before dropping Game 3, giving San Antonio a chance to swing the series. Instead, Game 4 turned into a defining moment for New York, with the team fighting back in front of a home crowd that refused to let the night slip away.
Rocky was not the only rapper showing love to the Knicks during their Finals run. Fat Joe also made headlines earlier this month after handing out free Knicks merchandise on the subway, though he joked that some commuters were suspicious of the gesture.
