21 Savage is mourning the loss of his teenage relative after a tragic shooting in Georgia.

Seven Shirley, 14, died after an accidental shooting that left his 12-year-old sister, Lyric Shirley, seriously injured at a home in Stockbridge, Georgia. According to the family, Seven accidentally shot Lyric in the neck on July 22 before later dying by suicide.

Before the children were publicly identified, 11Alive reported that a 14-year-old boy had been found dead from a gunshot wound and that a 12-year-old girl had been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Lyric remains hospitalized and has reportedly undergone three surgeries on her neck and vocal cords. The family has not shared when she may be released as they continue asking for prayers during her recovery.

Seven’s grandmother, Sharon Smith, said she had raised him since he was 11 months old. She spoke about the pain of losing him and questioned how the teenager was able to access a firearm in the first place.

The family is also dealing with another recent loss. Seven’s 13-year-old cousin, DeMarcus Shirley, was reportedly killed in a drive-by shooting earlier this month.

21 Savage, whose real name is Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, paid tribute to Seven on Instagram Stories. The rapper shared a photo of the teen wearing one of his signature diamond chains and wrote, “Remember when you were a baby,” alongside broken heart emojis.

In a family statement shared with 11Alive, relatives asked for privacy as they prepare for Seven’s funeral. They also asked supporters to continue praying for Lyric’s healing.

The family also urged the community to take action against illegal firearm access for minors, saying more needs to be done to protect children from similar tragedies.

As 21 Savage and his family grieve, fans have been sending condolences and prayers for Lyric’s recovery.
